Daddy's Pacifier

Today was a long day for Cora. After sitting through about six hours of dental work, she had had enough! This afternoon she was super cranky, and nothing I could do could get her to stop crying.

Well Daddy comes home, and he is magic. I walk into the room and change and come out to Ben saying, "Mommy is gonna kill me for this." And this is what I found...

Cora is a true woman, she will do anything for chocolate apparently.

A Tribute to Michael Jackson

One year ago today, Michael Jackson passed. This is a tribute to the King of Pop.

When he died, I couldn't understand why it was all over the news for weeks, but really he was a pop sensation. When I was pregnant with Cora, we rented the Michael Jackson tribute movie, and the whole time, baby was dancing in my belly. Now when she hears Michael Jackson music on my itunes she giggles and smiles. Funny girl. Good thing she will have music videos like this to entertain her since the King has passed.

Boston

Some day I want to run the Boston Marathon. In order to meet that goal I have to run a qualifying race in under 3 hours and 40 minutes. Yes. That may seem like no big deal but for me, it is! That is a whole 220 minutes or 13,200 seconds to run 26.2 miles. I would have to run every mile in under 8 minutes and 39 seconds. For a shorter race, that would be no problem. Once I am in shape of course. But running that pace for a whole 26.2 miles. I don't know if I can do it, but I am sure going to try.

I don't necessarily dream of actually running the Boston Marathon but qualifying for it would just be such an accomplishment for me. Ben says that if we both qualify we will actually go! So hopefully sometime next year we can qualify!

Piercings

Honestly I didn't know piercings were such a hot topic. Wow. I guess you should never ask for peoples opinions on such a debatable topic. I have had my ears pierced since I was six weeks old. I guess I missed out on the excitement of getting my ears pieced and apparently my mom took away my ability to choose whether or not I wanted them pierced in the first place. Really, I don't think I missed out on much at all. I don't remember the pain of getting them and my ears never once got infected because "I couldn't take care of them myself". I was one bald baby. Same with Cora. I am sick of people mistaking her for a boy, and if I was in her shoes I would be offended as well. :) Anyways after much debating, I ended up getting her ears pierced. She cried for a minute or less and that was that. I know that I can't please everyone and that each individual has a right to their own opinion. I definitely did not realize that ear piercings were such a debatable topic.

Beauty

Braces

On Monday I get my braces off! I have been waiting for this day for about 2 1/2 years now! :) I tried to find a "before picture" but this is the closest I could find on my computer, the day I got my braces on. Let's just say they have been a miracle!

So Monday be prepared for an update on my new, $10,000 smile. Yes, seriously, that is about what I have spent to date, not to mention I get to pay $850 dollars for a crown next week. I definitely think it was worth it!

Dumpster Diving

Dear whomever continues to throw away the Red Plum coupon inserts that come in the mail, thank you. Please continue. I really enjoy getting 10 sets of diaper coupons. Those really come in handy these days!

Love,

Jogger

Excuse me for stating the obvious but running is HARD work. Today I bought a new-to-me jogging stroller and decided to try it out. It has been a long time since I have ran, anyway. Actually I cannot remember the last time that happened, embarrassing enough. In the end I ran just over a 5k. Not too bad, but definitely not where I want to be. Guess I will have to start working out EVERYDAY!!! Ben and I are looking for a marathon to run, because frankly, without a goal, I'm not getting off the couch. Most normal people, especially after having a baby three months ago would pick a more attainable goal, you know, 5k, 10K, or even a half marathon. But no, I'm a freak.

Cora loved her first jog! She was crying when we fir
st put her in the stroller so I was a little nervous that
it wasn't going to go so well but as soon as we started moving she was great. That is until I had to stop and tie my shoe. But other than that she was great and ended up sleeping most the time (I assume, since I was behind the stroller!) I am really excited to start running more, and maybe being able to do p90x...after we get it again since ours has disappeared.

This is the jogger we got. I know its a double jogger but rest assured, we are not planning on filling that second seat anytime in the near future. I decided to get the double jogger because I ended up finding it on KSL cheaper than I have seen many one seaters, and I figure that I could fill that extra seat until we decided to introduce baby number two. I definitely think it was a great $50 investment considering it sells for over $350 online!

Wanted: SINGLE LADIES

Seriously. But not for me, I promise! My brother Kenny gets home on Friday from his two year mission in Peru/Bolivia, and let me tell you ladies, he will be one hot item. :) No but really we are so excited for him to get home. In the time he was gone I got married, graduated college and had a baby. Man, things change! Needless to say, this will be him first time meeting Ben and Cora! So anyways, if you are single, or have any single friends that are in need of a good man, well send them our way! ;)

A Good Laugh

I've got the cutest, sweetest husband in the world. In efforts to help me by cleaning the kitchen he used this...

yep that's right, LAUNDRY STAIN REMOVER. So now I have a fresh clean, stain-free kitchen. I mean you can't blame him, the name doesn't really give it away. Oh I love him.

Festivities

So I have decided that I will enter Cora into the "costume" category for her upcoming baby contest. Now I just need to figure out what she is going to be. I NEED ideas! Its on Saturday so I don't have too much time since I will be doing a final today, working at my internship tomorrow, and Friday will be consume with wedding festivities! I was thinking Lady Liberty or Miss America, but really, that's not original. Its got to be something epic! Any ideas?

Also we bought our tickets to Stadium of Fire and I am so excited! :) I mean Carrie Underwood is performing, what is not exciting about that? This will be my second time at one of her concerts and she really is AMAZING live. Anyway we have some extra tickets so if anyone wants to come let us know! They are for the back of the field and they are only $15!

Our Little Champion

This cute little girl...

WON 1st place in her FIRST baby contest this weekend at the Orem Summerfest! Yay Cora!

We now have proof that we are not the only ones that think this little girl is extremely adorable. Along with a medal she won a t-shirt (that is entirely too big), a book, and a gift certificate to Tiny Touches! She also could have rode in the parade but since it was cold and rainy, we decided that wasn't the best idea. She has her contest for the Freedom Festival coming up on Saturday, so I better get her wardrobe figured out. I can't decide if we want to enter the costume category this time or just stick with "cutest baby".

Camera Shy

Right now Cora is in a stage where she loves to squeal and coo at everything. She smiles all the time! You think I would have pictures to show for it, but no. Every time I pull out the camera she gets a disgusted look on her face. Nice. I guess if you want to see it, it will have to be in person.

5) A $50 restaurant.com gift card for only $4! Looks like we will be going out to dinner soon!

Lets see what else I can get!

3 Months

Today this sweet girl is three months old! She has definitely had an eventful first couple of months! Her legs are starting to get chubby, she is learning to laugh and smile, and she can even keep her binky in on her own! Hurray! Cora is such a good baby girl and Ben and I are so lucky to have her as our daughter! Seriously I don't know how we got such a sweet girl. Sleeping through the night, in her own room. Ahhhhh. I can imagine what we have in store after having such a calm baby. Maybe we just won't try and find out....haha at least for a few years.

Cora loves bath time! As soon as she gets in the water she starts kicking her legs and squealing! If I let her she would probably bathe all day. I have a little swimmer on my hands!

Since she seemed to really enjoy her baths, and I had free tickets to Seven Peaks--we gave it a try. She really liked the water, except it wasn't as warm as her baths which she wasn't so found of! Maybe in August she will enjoy the cold water a little more!

Once Again...

I should be sleeping but I am not. Ben is snoring, the baby is snoring, but not me...I've got way too much on my mind. I NEED A VACATION. Like a week all by myself. Maybe that would clear things up. Probably not. I just always manage to find so many things that I want to do, and never really accomplish anything that I have to do. It is so much easier to go grocery shopping than to clean my house...that is why my house has been a WRECK for two weeks. I hate a messy house but its gotten to the point that it will take a full day to clean it. But I did get the dishes done. I even cooked dinner. Wow. What an accomplishment. But I have some visitors coming this weekend meaning I HAVE to get the important things done. Dang it.

The good news is Kenny is coming home in 17 days! That means my family will be here in two weeks and I am so happy about it. Also Ben and I found out that we are expecting a new little NEPHEW, Kayson Harvey Crowther in October. We are so excited for Joey & Evan.

And Cora. She is getting so BIG. Everyone always told me that they grow up fast and hey, they weren't lying. Tomorrow she will be 3 months old and she is about ten pounds these days. It seems like everyday I wake up and she has grown! She is definitely not a newborn anymore. Recently Cora has discovered her love for water, we have a little swimmer on our hands! Today I took her to Seven Peaks and she loved it, but not quite as much as she loves her baths! Pictures to follow (when I don't have to wake everyone up to find my camera!).

Some People

I just can't believe the things some people do. I mean really. I am in the Emergency Room the other night, as if my night wasn't going bad enough and then someone happens to steal my wallet! Seriously! I left my room for a whole fifteen minutes to get an ultrasound and come back and bam, its gone. We contacted hospital security hoping that they could help me find my wallet but no. Just my luck. The security cameras just missed my room. And to make it better, the room I was in was connected to two other rooms separated by sheets. So really it could be anyone. Great. To make it even better, I woke up this morning and already had stuff charged on my card. From the time I left my room to the time they started charging things was a whole 40 minutes. They really waste no time! Luckily my bank will reimburse me for the fraud. And I am working with an officer to help me locate the wallet. I just have to say that whoever this thief is, they are SMART. They ended up going to one of the only gas stations in Provo that the video cameras don't work at. This is not my week. And of course trying to get information about my bank account to try to help the officers find the culprit is nearly impossible without my id. This is one of the times when I am actually thankful that I do not keep cash in my wallet. They were probably severely disappointed when they found a whole $0.75. But they did get my gift cards, drivers license, insurance cards and any other information that they wanted. Some people.

The good news of the day, I get my braces off in 3.5 weeks! Yay.
